Biography

Jeffrey P. Lessard received his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Arkansas. Prior to that he earned his Masters of Arts in Financial Economics at the University of Arkansas, Masters of Business Administration in Accounting at Plymouth State College and his Bachelors of Science in Marketing and Political Science at the University of New Hampshire.

Dr. Lessard arrived at RIT in September, 1989, and is a tenured associate professor. He has previously taught at the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh, the State University of New York at Binghamton, Marshall University and the University of Arkansas.

Dr. Lessard has published in a wide variety of journals such as the American Business Review, Akron Business and Economic Review, New York Business and Economic Review, Business Insights, Journal of Financial Education, Journal of Global Business and Southern Business Review. Dr. Lessard's current scholarly interests are in the areas of corporate valuation, performance and presentation standards in the investments industry and the influence of the board of directors upon the creation of shareholder value.

Dr Lessard's primary teaching interests are in the areas of investment analysis and portfolio performance. Dr. Lessard is also deeply involved in the College's SAP Curriculum initiative where he is scheduled to teach ERP/SAP courses in financial accounting information systems, managerial accounting information systems and treasury management.

Dr. Lessard has served RIT in a number of governance activities including serving as the Chair of the RIT Academic Affairs and Curriculum Committees; the Chair of the COB's Curriculum, Teaching Effectiveness and SAP Curriculum Initiative Committees. He has also been the Chairman of the Department of Finance and Business Law at Marshall University. Dr. Lessard is a Chartered Financial Analyst and is a Samuel M. Walton Free Enterprise Fellow.
