Thom Craver administers the email servers, database systems, all Web sites, and assists with the development and maintenance of student-run Web sites at the E. Philip Saunders College of Business. He determines and evaluates Web publishing and database management system needs across the College's populations of students, faculty and staff.
Thom tutors NTID students enrolled in business studies and has guest lectured on search engine marketing for student organizations an in SCB marketing and E-commerce classes.
Thom has started, owned and operated two successful businesses. The founder, owner and operator for eight years of the Web site development and marketing firm, New York Web Works, Thom led a merger with Corporate Communications, Inc. in 2004. After the transition, he led Corporate Communications' initiatives for clients in the areas of search-engine marketing, encompassing organic search engine optimization (SEO), pay-per-click (PPC), and site performance monitoring. From 2002-2010, he co-owned and managed Crocodile Rock Entertainment, Inc, a mobile DJ and entertainment service.
Previously, Thom served in various Webmaster roles for a several area companies. He was an adjunct instructor for Bryant and Stratton College, and he was a technical writer and content specialist with Technical Learning Resources (TLR). During 1994-95 academic year, he was the editor-in-chief of the RIT Faculty/Staff Newsletter.
Thom writes a regular column for Search Engine Watch, the acclaimed Web site providing news and information about search engines and search engine marketing. a monthly column for Computer Link Magazine, monthly computer and tech publication in the Buffalo and Rochester metro areas. Thom has also authored or co-authored 14 computer software instructional manuals published by Rochester-based Technical Learning Resources, Computer Confidence Incorporated and California-based SVI Training Products.
Thom is a noted search engine optimization expert and a self-proclaimed "marketing guy in a geek's body." Counting soccer among his other interests, he was host for the Rochester Rhinos pro soccer club's pre-game and post-game radio programs for multiple seasons in the early 2000's. Thom was also the Rhinos' webmaster from 1997-2001. Prior to joining the Rhinos Broadcast Team, he served as the communications director (and Webmaster) for the Rhinos Support Club from 1998 to 2001. He has also performed as on on-air personality at 98PXY-FM and WYSL 1040-AM.
