Biography
Deborah Colton is the International Business Area Leader and Associate Professor of International Business and Marketing in the E. Philip Saunders College of Business. She teaches Internet Marketing, Principles of Marketing and Global Marketing at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Additionally, she teaches marketing courses online for RIT’s distance learners.
Colton believes the Internet is truly a global phenomenon. Thus, her expertise bridges Internet marketing and global marketing topics. Two of her mainstay areas are international e-tailing (electronic retailing) which examines drivers of online retail success across national borders, and corporate blogging which is increasingly being used as a marketing tool.
Colton’s research focuses on Internet and international marketing. She has published research studies in the Journal of World Business and Journal of International Marketing, and has presented at the American Marketing Association Educators’ Conferences and the Academy of International Business’ Annual Conferences. Colton also has received multiple “Best Paper” awards at national conferences.
Colton received her Ph.D. degree in International Business and Marketing from the University of South Carolina in 2004. She earned an MBA from Rochester Institute of Technology, and a B.A. in International Studies from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She is a member of the American Marketing Association, the Academy of International Business and Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society.
